Note: We do not interfere with medical collaboration agreements. We do not have to become a primary care provider, but we can only ifasked. We are similar to urgent care
Our school-based telehealth program uses telecommunications technology to connect children and staff in need of acute or specialty care services to a healthcare provider at a distant site.
Children in Missouri stay home due to sickness each year.
Counties in Missouri do not have a pediatrician.
Children live in households that do not own a motor vehicle.
The following conditions and illnesses can be diagnosed and treated through a School Based Virtual Clinic appointment. In addition, School Based Virtual Clinics offer onsite rapid strep testing.
School Based Virtual Clinics are clinics inside school locations, operated by Cape Family Medical Clinic and school personnel to help treat students quicker, which reduces missed days of school.
Virtual care is a method of providing healthcare remotely with an internet connection, web camera and specialized medical equipment to connect patients with licensed providers.
School Based Virtual Clinics using state of the art technology allows your child to be connected to medical care while they are still at school. This means your child gets care more quickly and misses fewer school days, while you miss fewer days of work.
To help schools reduce the number of days children and faculty miss school for health-related issues by providing an on-site clinic that is easy and affordable to access.
When a student is sick, he or she will be sent to the school nurse for evaluation. If the school nurse finds your child’s ailment can be treated by a licensed provider through a virtual visit, the school nurse will contact you and have you and your student log onto the virtual health system.
A licensed provider will examine your child using a web camera and specialized equipment. You’ll participate in this visit with your child, either in-person or through a video connection (we will never treat your student without your consent and involvement).
Virtual visits are provided by Cape Family Medical Clinic licensed providers. Much like a visit to an urgent care clinic or a walk-in clinic, a virtual visit will not change your child’s primary care provider.
Currently, we diagnose and treat common acute illnesses such as cough, cold, sore throat, ear infection and pink eye. Additional services may be provided, depending on the condition.
If a prescription is required, it will be sent electronically by the licensed provider to the pharmacy of your choice.
A parent or legal guardian is required to participate in the visit. You may come to the school, or you can join by video with a smart phone, tablet, or computer with a web cam or even over the phone without leaving your home or workplace. Don’t worry – we’ll help you get connected. For assistance, please call 573-332-7992.

It’s easy. Just complete and return the School Based Virtual Clinics enrollment and consent form provided by your child’s school. You can submit your completed consent form directly to your child’s school, or by faxing it to 573-332-7998. You can also go to this link and fill out yours and your child’s information to make the appointment quicker.
Your child must have a signed consent form on file before he or she will be able to participate.
This does not mean your child will be treated without your consent. You will always be contacted prior to any visit with a virtual care provider.
This service is available during normal school hours. If your child’s school is closed due to inclement weather, holidays, etc., School Based Virtual Clinics will also be closed. However, if you or your child needs treatment during times the school is closed, you will still have access to this telehealth program.
We can send your records to any facility you would like all you have to do is simply request this at the time of the visit. Like receiving care at any other facility, if your child is not feeling better following the Virtual Visits appointment, please contact your primary care provider. If you do not currently have a primary care provider, please call 573-332-7992.
A summary of your child’s visit will be sent, using secure messaging, to the email address on your child’s enrollment form. If you don’t have email access, the information can be made available for pick-up at our Cape Family Medical Clinic office.
